Ingredients to make Spinach Macaroni and Cheese:
- 250 grams of frozen spinach
- 500 grams of Macaroni
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 200 grams of grated Gruyère cheese
- 1½ sticks of Butter
- 3 tablespoons of flour
- 1½ cups of Milk (360 milliliters)
- 1 pinch of Nutmeg
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of Pepper
How to make Spinach Macaroni and Cheese:
- The first thing we are going to do to start preparing the macaroni recipe is to cook the spinach.
- When they are well cooked, drain them, reserving a little of the cooking water, and chop them finely.
- We take a saucepan, add the butter and put it on the fire.
- When it has melted, sauté the finely chopped
- When we observe that the onion begins to take on color, we add the flour, the milk and mix well to form a thick béchamel.
- Add salt, pepper and a pinch of nutmeg to taste.
- Then, we add a cup and a half of the water that we had reserved for cooking the spinach, stir and add the spinach along with 120 g of grated cheese.
- Separately, cook the macaroni in plenty of water and a pinch of salt.
- When they are al dente, drain them and add them to the previous hot sauce.
- Mix and transfer the macaroni with the spinach and the sauce to a container suitable for the oven.
- Sprinkle the rest of the grated cheese and grill it in the oven.
- Ready! We serve the macaroni with spinach and cheesevery hot, accompanied by a grilled chicken breast.
