Spinach Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients to make Spinach Macaroni and Cheese:

  • 250 grams of frozen spinach
  • 500 grams of Macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 200 grams of grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1½ sticks of Butter
  • 3 tablespoons of flour
  • 1½ cups of Milk (360 milliliters)
  • 1 pinch of Nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of Pepper

How to make Spinach Macaroni and Cheese:

  1. The first thing we are going to do to start preparing the macaroni recipe is to cook the spinach.
  2. When they are well cooked, drain them, reserving a little of the cooking water, and chop them finely.
  3. We take a saucepan, add the butter and put it on the fire.
  4. When it has melted, sauté the finely chopped
  5. When we observe that the onion begins to take on color, we add the flour, the milk and mix well to form a thick béchamel.
  6. Add salt, pepper and a pinch of nutmeg to taste.
  7. Then, we add a cup and a half of the water that we had reserved for cooking the spinach, stir and add the spinach along with 120 g of grated cheese.
  8. Separately, cook the macaroni in plenty of water and a pinch of salt.
  9. When they are al dente, drain them and add them to the previous hot sauce.
  10. Mix and transfer the macaroni with the spinach and the sauce to a container suitable for the oven.
  11. Sprinkle the rest of the grated cheese and grill it in the oven.
  12. Ready! We serve the macaroni with spinach and cheesevery hot, accompanied by a grilled chicken breast.
