Macaroni and Cheese Muffins Recipe

I love macaroni and cheese boxes but I wanted to do something original with them and the first recipe I found was this: Macaroni and cheese muffins, what a hit!

If you also like American-style macaroni and want to know more recipes with macaroni and cheese, here is a step by step that you will enjoy in a big way. These savory muffins or cupcakes are ideal both for a relaxed weekend meal and as an aperitif at a birthday party or gathering with friends.

Although it is marked as a recipe for children, these macaroni and cheese muffins are a delight that everyone will want to try, yes, it is not easy, but it is worth it.

Ingredients to make Macaroni and Cheese Muffins:

  1. 1 package of Macaroni & Cheese
  2. 3 slices of sweet ham (optional)
  3. 1 egg
  4. 100 grams of mozzarella cheese
  5. 1 pinch of Salt and Pepper
  6. 50 grams of Cheese to gratin

How to make Macaroni and Cheese Muffins:

  • Since we will make this macaroni and cheese recipe with Kraft’s famous Macaroni and Cheese, the first thing we have to do is following the instructions on the box and prepare the pasta by adding milk, butter and cheese powder.
  • You can use any other brand or make the macaroni at home
  • Add the mozzarella cheese to the still hot pasta and stir well. Also season with a pinch of salt and pepper. You will see how the cheese melts as you mix it with the macaroni.
  • Add a raw egg and stir everything until it’s fully integrated into the paste.
  • On the other hand, prepare a tray for cupcakes by smearing each hole with a drop of oil. She takes advantage and makes a sweet ham base, placing strips of it at the bottom of each mould, as seen in the photo.
  • I have used a silicone tray but if you don’t have one like it, you can use the classic cupcake molds.
  • Fill all the holes with the mac and cheese mixture that we have made previously, fill as much as you can. Then take it to the oven and cook at 180ºC for 25-30 minutes.
  • When there are 5 minutes left to finish cooking, take the tray out of the oven and spread a little cheese to gratin on each of the salty cupcakes. Return to the oven and wait for the cheese to brown
  • Remove from the oven and wait a few minutes before unmolding the mac and cheese muffins.
  • Serve the macaroni and cheese muffins and enjoy this original recipe with the little ones at home. IF you make large muffins, two per serving will be more than enough and to complete the menu, you can accompany them with some octopus-shaped sausages.
  • These muffins can be served both hot and cold and if you make them smaller, they are the perfect appetizer for any type of gathering. I hope you enjoy them!
