Hake Pie Recipe

Ingredients to make Hake Pie:

  • 600 g of hake
  • 50g carrot
  • 75g onion
  • 2 dl of fried tomato sauce
  • 6 slices of sliced ​​bread
  • Milk
  • 5 eggs
  • salted
  • Pepper
  • Lemon
  • bread crumbs

How to make Hake Pie:

  1. Cook the hake with carrot, onion, a splash of oil, salt and pepper.
  2. Fill a container with milk and submerge the sliced ​​bread.
  3. Once the hake is cooked, we shred it and mix it with tomato sauce, 5 egg yolks and bread.
  4. We beat everything with the mixer and add the whites until stiff with a little salt.
  5. Pour into an elongated baking dish, which we will have previously greased with butter and sprinkled with breadcrumbs, and cover with aluminum foil or another heat resistant one, to prevent the upper part from toasting.
  6. We put the mold in a bain-marie and put it in a preheated oven at 200ºC for 45 minutes.
  7. To check if it is curdled, we introduce a knitting needle or a knife; if it comes out clean it is a sign that it is.
  8. To accompany this cake we will make a very light pink sauce (mayonnaise + ketchup).
