Mujaddara Recipe – Lebanese Rice with Lentils

In this recipe we are going to make a delicious side dish of Lebanese origin. As we already know, rice is one of the most consumed products worldwide, which is why we know different versions made with this ingredient. In this recipe we bring an option prepared with lentils called mujaddara. Keep reading and discover the step by step to cook this Lebanese rice with lentils.

Ingredients to make Mujaddara – Lebanese Lentil Rice:

  • 250 grams of cooked white rice
  • 150 grams of cooked lentils
  • 2 units of white onions
  • 1 teaspoon of Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon powder
  • 2 tablespoons of pine nuts
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of Ginger powder

How to make Mujaddara – Lebanese Lentil Rice:

  1. Our first step to make the Lebanese-style rice recipe is to prepare the ingredients.
  2. The first thing we are going to do is peel the white onions and cut them into rings.
  3. Then, we take a frying pan over medium heat with the olive oil and fry them until they are golden.
  4. Remove the onion rings from the pan when they are cooked.
  5. In the same pan where we cooked the onions, add the white rice with the cooked lentils.
  6. Add the cumin, cinnamon, paprika, ginger, salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. We mix all the ingredients of the mujaddara very well so that they are integrated.
  8. Finally, we added the pine nuts and the onion that we had reserved to be able to finish our recipe for rice with lentils.
  9. We serve the Lebanese style rice recipe once the ingredients are mixed, add the finely chopped parsley and it will be ready to enjoy.
  10. You can prepare a traditional chickpea hummus to accompany and a meat or fish fillet.
