Arabic recipes are usually very exotic and full of flavor. On this occasion, we wanted to make a version of Arabic couscous, giving it a sweet touch and mixing it with nuts that are widely used in Morocco.
The Moroccan sweet couscous that we have prepared in can be served as a dessert or at snack time, accompanied by a Moorish tea. We look forward to your comments and photos!
Ingredients to make Moroccan Sweet Couscous:
- 1 cup of couscous
- 6 units of dates
- 6 units of prunes
- 1 tablespoon currants
- 1 tablespoon Almonds
- 1 tablespoon of Sugar
- ½ tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ tablespoon vegetable margarine
How to make Moroccan Sweet Couscous:
- We gather all the ingredients to make the Moroccan sweet couscous.
- To cook the couscous, we heat water and, when it boils, we add it to the pasta until it covers it. Let the couscous rest for 3 minutes.
- After that time, we add a little vegetable margarine or olive oil, and move with a fork so that it mixes well and the couscous grains separate.
- Let stand another 3 minutes.
- When the couscous is still warm, add the sugar and ground cinnamon and stir well to integrate the flavors.
- It is time to incorporate the fruits that we like the most. We have added some currants.
- Add the prunes and almonds.
- Walnuts or pine nuts can also be added. We have used natural almonds, but if you feel like it, you can add some spiced nuts.
- Finally, we add the pitted dates and we can now taste this sweet Moroccan couscous.
