This time we are going with a spoon dish, some lentils with chorizo and ham. A very comforting dish that you really want. And it is that, who does not like to come home from work and find a good plate of lentils? Without a doubt, it is a delight.
Stews are very practical, since we can have them prepared in advance. In addition, having rested, they are even better. I hope you will be encouraged to prepare with me this incredible recipe for stewed lentils with vegetables and ham, and, above all, that you like it, you will see that it is a very simple dish.
Ingredients to make stewed lentils with vegetables and ham:
- 350 grams of Lentils
- 1 onion
- 1 green pepper
- 1 Carrot
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 sausage
- 1 piece of salted ham
- 1 tomato
- 1 pinch of cumin (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons of fried tomato
- 2 whole garlic cloves
How to make stewed lentils with vegetables and ham:
1.We will start by washing the lentils well. For this recipe for lentils with chorizo and vegetables you can use this canned or dried legume. If you opt for the second option, you can leave them to soak for about an hour or not, since this step is optional for this type of legume.
2.In the pot where we are going to prepare them, we put all the clean and cut raw ingredients, except the ham and the chorizo.
3.Then, we introduce the lentils and cover them with water. Put the pot on high heat until it starts to boil.
4.We cut the chorizo into small pieces and the ham, although if we prefer we can also put these products whole.
5.Add the chorizo and ham to the lentil stew with vegetables and let it cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes. We put a little salt but without going overboard, since the chorizo gives it flavor and so does the ham. Optionally add a pinch of ground cumin.
6.Let the stewed lentils with chorizo and ham cook until they are ready. The final time will depend on the type of lentil that we use, I use the one from Salamanca, very well and it takes 45 minutes. At the last moment, a part of the vegetables can be mashed and added to the lentils.
