This time we are preparing a very traditional stew: some stewed lentils with chorizo, a delicious spoon dish that cannot be missing from our tables, especially in winter, since it is very forceful and goes great to get through the cold. This quick and easy Grandma’s Lentil Dish can be made overnight and will be even better. As you can see, these easy stewed lentils are very complete and nutritious for the whole family because they contain vegetables, ribs, chorizo and legumes. I’m sure you will like them!
Ingredients to make Stewed Lentils with Chorizo:
- 400 grams of lentils
- 250 grams of pork rib
- 1 sausage
- 1 onion
- 1 piece of green pepper
- 4 tablespoons of fried tomato
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 splash of oil
How to make Stewed Lentils with Chorizo:
1.We prepare all the ingredients. Wash the lentils under running cold water.
2.Heat a saucepan with a good splash of oil, add the ribs in small pieces and brown them over high heat.
3.Once the ribs are browned, lower the heat to medium heat. Cut the chorizo into slices and add it next to the ribs. We fry it.
4.We add the rest of the ingredients of the grandmother’s lentils to the pan: the pepper in a piece, the peeled and whole onion, the bay leaf and the fried tomato, and stir.
5.Add water and lentils to the pot and start cooking the legumes.
6.Add a little salt and half a teaspoon of cumin (optional) to the stewed lentils.
7.Let cook until the easy stewed lentils are at their point. When they are, we will try them for salt and rectify.
8.If you like them thicker and want to take advantage of the vegetables, mash them and add them to the stewed lentils with chorizo, which will give them a lot of flavor. And ready to eat!
