Write down this recipe for cod battered in beer tempura if you don’t know how to make it because I assure you that you have never tasted crispy battered fresh cod like this.

The trick is in the batter to coat the cod which is made with wheat flour, corn flour, a little baking powder, egg yolk, ground garlic, chopped parsley and cold beer instead of water. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Well, don’t think about it anymore and take advantage of this step by step that we offers you to prepare a delicious cod battered with flour and beer to lick your fingers.

Ingredients to make cod battered with flour and beer:

  • 450 grams of Cod
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons of cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon Royal type chemical yeast
  • 1 shot of cold beer
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 pinch of chopped dried parsley
  • 1 pinch of minced garlic

How to make Cod battered with flour and beer:

  1. To start preparing this flour and beer battered cod, the first thing we have to do is cut the cod into thick pieces if we haven’t already bought it that way. It is important that the cod is salty because if it is not desalted, you will have to leave it to soak and change the water as many times as necessary.
  2. Next, we prepare the dough to coat the cod, in this case, a beer tempura. To do this, in a bowl we mix the wheat flour, the corn flour and the baking powder, and we add little bits of cold beer that we mix with some rods until we get a thick cream.
  3. Tip: The colder the beer, the better the tempura battered cod will be afterwards.
  4. Once the cod tempura battered with flour and beer is prepared, we will add the garlic, the chopped parsley and the egg yolk to give it even more flavor. This step is optional but the truth is that with this mixture the tempura cod bites are very crunchy and tasty.
  5. Now we heat a frying pan with plenty of oil and while it heats up, we coat the cod in the beer tempura.
  6. Once the oil is very hot, fry the fresh cod in batter until it is golden brown on all sides.
  7. Finally, we place the crispy and fluffy pieces of battered cod on a plate with absorbent paper to remove any excess oil that may have remained.
  8. And finally we can plate our cod battered with flour and beer accompanied with a few lamb’s lettuce and a few slices of lemon, which combine very well with this fish.
