Have you ever wondered how the strained bean is born? Well, this is a traditional Peruvian dessert, however, sources say that it is created through the inspiration of white manjar from Europe. In addition, it should be noted that within Peru this dessert has its origin within the Afro-Peruvian communities in the community of Chincha (North of Ica). Formerly it was known as bean candy.
Strained beans are specially prepared on Thursdays and Fridays of Easter and Christmas Eve. The main ingredients are: black beans, brown sugar and finally, evaporated milk. It is necessary to point out that depending on the area the ingredients may vary, since in different parts they add red wine, cloves and nutmeg. Ingredients to make Strained Beans:
- 500 grams of black beans
- 500 grams of brown sugar
- 500 milliliters of evaporated milk
- 10 grams of white sesame seeds
How to make Strained Beans:
- To start with the bean recipe, you must soak the beans for 24 hours and change the water 2 times. Boil until the beans are soft.
- Blend the beansforming a puree and add a splash of water.
- Place the bean purée in a large potwith the milk and sugar over medium heat. Move constantly using a spoon.
- When you can see the bottom of the pot, remove it and pour it into a candySprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Ready, we already have the rich strained beans!
