Chickpeas with Beans and Chard Recipe

Ingredients to make Chickpeas with beans and chard:

  • 200 gr. chickpeas
  • 200 gr. of white beans
  • 400 gr. chard
  • 1 onion
  • 80 gr. chorizo
  • 50 gr. of lard
  • 1 head of garlic
  • 3 bay leaves
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to make Chickpeas with beans and chard:

1 Put the chickpeas and beans to soak, separately, the day before. Drain them.

2 Peel the head of garlic and the onion, dividing it into several pieces.

3 Wash the chard, discard the green part and cut the stems into pieces.

4 Cook the chard in a pot with water and salt, about 15 minutes, until the stems are tender, drain and reserve.

5 Fill the pot again with water and salt and cook the beans slowly for an hour and drain them.

6 Meanwhile, in another pan with water and salt, put the chickpeas.

7 Add the onion, the head of garlic, the lard and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.

8 Add the beans, chard and bay leaf to the chickpea pot and season to taste.

9 Add the chorizo ​​and cook for another 30 minutes over low heat. Drain and serve.
