Ingredients to make Salvadoran Stewed Meat:
- Pound and a half of beef in small squares
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 carrots cut into cubes
- 4 large potatoes cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup of wine
- 1/2 tbsp. achiote (you can use paprika)
- Salt and pepper
How to make Salvadoran Stewed Meat:
- Brown the meat in the hot oil, then season with salt, paprika and pepper;
- add water until meat is covered.
- Cover and cook over high heat until it boils.
- Lower the heat and cook another 15 minutes; add the tomato sauce, carrots, onion and cook a little more.
- Add the wine and let it boil for about five minutes to lose the alcohol.
- Accompany with white rice and fresh salad
