Ingredients to make homemade tangerine liqueur:
- 8 tangerines
- 750 milliliters of pomace, fine alcohol or brandy
- 500 grams of sugar (2½ cups)
- 500 milliliters of water
How to make homemade tangerine liqueur:
- The first thing you have to do is macerate the tangerine peels. Since you are going to use the skins, wash the tangerines well to remove all traces of dust or fertilizer. Peel the tangerines and collect the peels and remove the white part of the skin with the tip of a knife, since if you do not remove it would give a bitter taste to the homemade liquor. Then cut them into pieces or strips.
- Put the clean shell pieces in an airtight glass jar with a wide mouth and add all the pomace, brandy, rum or fine alcohol. Store the jar in a dark, dry place and let it macerate for 3-4 weeks or so.
- After the maceration time, prepare the syrup. To do this, put a saucepan on the fire with the water and sugar, cook for about five minutes and let it cool. Separately, strain the alcohol from the tangerine peels and add the cold syrup.
- It is time to bottle the entire mixture. Put the homemade tangerine liqueur in the decanters that you are going to use and let it rest for another week or two in the same place before consuming it. Then keep it in the fridge to take it fresh. And enjoy a delicious liquor! This drink is perfect to end almost any meal, such as a dish of battered hake or a homemade hamburger
