Ingredients to make Walnut Eggnog:

  • 1 liter of milk
  • 250 grams of Sugar (1¼ cups)
  • 2 pinches of bicarbonate
  • 1 piece of clove
  • 8 egg yolks
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 150 grams of Walnut
  • 1 teaspoon of walnut essence (optional)
  • 1 small glass of rum or brandy

How to make Walnut Eggnog:

  1. To make our homemade eggnog we start by flavoring the milk. To do this, we place it in a thick-bottomed pot together with the baking soda, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves and heat until it starts to boil.
  2. Remove from the heat and wait for the milk to cool to room temperature. Then we take the cinnamon sticks and cloves out of the pot and add the egg yolks one by one. This means that we will not be able to add the next one until the first one is completely dissolved and so on.
  3. Bring the mixture back to the cooker and stir vigorously without stopping until it boils, at which point we will remove the pot from the heat.
  4. To finish we add the essence, the alcohol and the finely chopped walnut. We remove everything and wait for it to cool to room temperature to bottle and refrigerate.
  5. The homemade walnut eggnog is a delight that we cannot stop drinking and sharing during the Christmas holidays.
