Chickpea and Oatmeal Burger Recipe

One of the easiest legume burger recipes to make is, without a doubt, the vegetarian chickpea burger. Just grind all the ingredients, shape it and fry it in the pan or cook it in the oven to get a quick and tasty protein meal without meat or fish. In addition, this chickpea and oatmeal burger recipe that we present is also low in calories, so it can be included in a weight loss diet. Try and be surprised!

Ingredients to make Chickpea and Oatmeal Burger:

  • 200 grams of cooked chickpeas
  • ½ cup of rolled oats
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small egg
  • olive oil (optional)
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch of salt

How to make Chickpea and Oatmeal Burger:

1 Put the chickpeas, carrot, garlic and oatmeal in a food processor or food processor. Add salt and pepper to taste and beat for a few minutes.

2 The mixture can be completely crushed or have lumps, depending on your taste. Add the egg and beat until the mixture is homogeneous. Taste it and, if necessary, adjust the flavor with more salt and pepper. At this point you can add other condiments to taste such as hot sauce, oregano, turmeric, etc…

Tip: If you prefer to make an authentic vegan chickpea and oatmeal burger, omit the egg and add little breadcrumbs so that the dough compacts well.

3 Take a portion of the chickpea and oatmeal burger dough, shape it into a ball and flatten it between your hands. Brown all the vegetable burgers lightly in a greased pan or in the oven at 200 °C.

Trick: Grease your hands a little with oil so that the dough doesn’t stick.

4 Serve the chickpea and oatmeal burger accompanied with a little lemon or mayonnaise sauce if you like. To accompany it you can prepare homemade hamburger bread yourself.
