Hummus recipes are traditionally made with tahini paste, a sesame seed paste that gives it a distinctive flavor. As it is not a common ingredient in many of our kitchens, we have varied this hummus of flavors and we have prepared it without tahini (although you can do it at home with this tahini sauce recipe) and with peas.
Within vegan spreadable creams, green hummus is one of the most original, due to its color and flavor. In this article, you have the step by step of the pea hummus, don’t miss it!
Ingredients to make Pea Hummus:
- 1 glass of cooked peas
- ½ cup of cooked Chickpeas
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 pinch of ground cumin
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of ground black pepper
- ½ unit of Lemon
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil
How to make Pea Hummus:
We gather all the ingredients to make the pea hummus. First, we mix the cooked chickpeas with half of the peas and add salt, ground black pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. When we have beaten it, add the rest of the peas and continue beating. Next, we add the peeled garlic and a little more oil to the pea hummus. We keep beating. Garlic gives a characteristic flavor to hummus, you can’t miss it!
Trick: As we have said other times, so that the garlic does not repeat itself, the internal central stem can be removed.
We continue with this green hummus: add the ground cumin and sesame, leaving a little aside to decorate, and beat again. If the cream is very thick, we add more olive oil. Finally, add the juice of half a lemon and beat or mix with a spoon. You can accompany this pea hummus with some slices of fresh cucumber or with some vegan crackers.
