Ingredients to make Mexican Eggnog:

  • 4 units of egg yolk
  • 6 cups of Milk (1440 milliliters)
  • 1 cup of Sugar (200 grams)
  • ½ cup of Almonds
  • 1 shot of rum or tequila

How to make Mexican Eggnog:

  1. The first step is to gather all the ingredients on the list. To make this homemade eggnog we will use almonds, so if you do not have peeled almonds, soak the dried fruit in hot water and remove the skin easily to start with the recipe.
  2. When you have everything ready, blend the almonds with a little milk until the result has no lumps. You can use a blender or a chopstick.
  3. Next, we boil the rest of the milk in a saucepan with a thick bottom together with the sugar and the almond liquefied that we have from the previous step. Keep cooking over medium heat until it starts to boil.
  4. Remove and reserve until the milk reaches room temperature.
  5. Meanwhile, beat the egg yolks with the rum and then add little by little, and without stopping stirring, to the mixture with milk. Beat constantly until all the ingredients have been integrated.
  6. Let the eggnog rest and come to room temperature. When it has cooled enough you can pack it in a glass bottle and store it in the fridge so that it is very cold when serving.
  7. Enjoy the Mexican eggnog on Christmas dates and share with the family.
