Quiche Lorraine recipe with puff pastry

Quiche is an original savory tart from French cuisine. Normally, quiche Lorraine is made with short crust pastry, but in this case we will do a variation and show you how to make a puff pastry quiche Lorraine. Follow the step by step of this easy recipe and don’t be scared by the number of steps because we assure you that you will be able to enjoy this quiche with bacon in less than you expect.

Ingredients to make Quiche Lorraine with puff pastry:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 200 milliliters of liquid cream
  • 200 grams of Bacon
  • 200 grams of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 100 milliliters of milk
  • 4 units of Egg
  • 1 pinch of salt and pepper

How to make Quiche Lorraine with puff pastry:

To start preparing this quiche recipe, the first step is to fry the finely chopped bacon. If you want you can buy the one that comes already in cubes.

Separately, line a mold with the puff pastry. You can use a typical round quiche pan or whatever you have available. If you want, you can make the dough yourself following the homemade puff pastry recipe.

Prick the puff pastry all over the base of the mold, place a sheet of baking paper and put some weight on top. You can use beans or chickpeas, the idea is that they exert force on the dough. Take this to the preheated oven at 180ºC for a few minutes until the puff pastry begins to brown.

Remove the weight and the sheet of baking paper, and on the mold with the puff pastry  place half of the bacon together with the mozzarella cheese.

Separately, beat the eggs with the cream and milk. Add this preparation on the puff pastry and spread the rest of the bacon on top.

Take the bacon quiche to the oven at the same temperature of 180ºC for about 15-20 minutes or until you see that it is already golden.

Let it rest for a few minutes out of the oven so that it finishes curdling and doesn’t fall apart when you cut. Then, you can serve this delicious quiche Lorraine with puff pastry and enjoy it with some fresh avocado salad.
