The mushroom is a product widely used in gastronomy throughout the world. In Spain it is grown especially in La Rioja, although we can find it throughout the country. It should be noted that it is not a plant, it is a fungus. On the other hand, it has a low caloric intake and has beneficial elements for the body, such as fiber and vitamins. This dish of mushrooms in cream is an excellent accompaniment to roast meat, fish or any other preparation. It can also be served on toast as an appetizer or starter. Ingredients to make Mushrooms in cream:
• 350 grams of mushrooms
• 25 grams of butter
• 1 onion
• 1 glass of cream or milk cream
• Juice of half a lemon
• ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
• ½ teaspoon of salt
• 1 pinch of ground black pepper
• 1 pinch of grated nutmeg
How to make Mushrooms in cream:
Melt the butter in a large frying pan, add the peeled and finely chopped onion and fry until soft and lightly browned, about five minutes or so.
Clean the mushrooms (if they are fat, cut them into 4 pieces), add them to the onion and fry them until they release the water. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Add the cream, the juice of half a lemon and cook the mushrooms in the cream for 3 or 4 minutes over high heat until the sauce thickens.
Put the mixture of mushrooms in the cream in a serving dish and sprinkle with sweet paprika. As I said, this recipe is ideal to serve on a slice of toasted bread as a starter, or as an accompaniment to any dish.
