Recipe for spinach rolls with cheese

Spinach is a vegetable with a great contribution of iron, fiber and beta carotene, in addition, it is a precursor of vitamin A. Incorporating it into the diet can be difficult for those who are not lovers of vegetables or even in children, who have a certain aversion for green vegetables naturally.

Ingredients to make Spinach Cheese Rolls:

  • 2 cups of whole meal flour (300 grams)
  • ½ cup of water (120 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 dessert spoon of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 large onion
  • 100 grams of spinach
  • 1 tablespoon grated cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard
  • 1 roasted garlic clove

How to make Cheesy Spinach Roll-Ups:

To start preparing your recipe for spinach rolls, mix the flour with the baking powder and the salt. Make a crown on a clean countertop and pour warm water and honey in the center. Integrate the ingredients from the center to form a smooth dough. Cover it and let it rest while you prepare the filling, in this way, it will be easier to stretch it, since the gluten will be relaxed.

For the filling, peel and finely chop the onion. Saute it in a skillet over high heat with 1 teaspoon of oil. Once it’s golden, lower the heat to medium and, when it’s sticking, add 1 tablespoon of boiling water. Repeat this process as many times as you want, keep in mind that the more times you repeat it, the more caramelized it will be with its own sugars. Reserve it.

Next, stretch the dough that you have prepared in point 1, it should have a rectangular shape. Spread the dough with the mustard and the crushed garlic. Cover it with the caramelized onion in its own sugars.

In turn, cover the onions with the spinach leaves, well washed and chopped raw. Sprinkle with grated cheese.

Roll up your dough stuffed with spinach. You can secure the closure by slightly moistening the edge before closing your roll. Cut rolls 2 fingers wide. The homemade spinach roll-ups are almost ready!

Arrange them spiral side up in a baking pan with cooking spray or 1 teaspoon of oil spread on a napkin. Leave about 2 fingers of separation between each one, since they have baking powder and will rise a little in the oven.

Cook them in the hot oven, 200 ºC approximately 15 minutes or until the base is slightly golden. To eat!
