FoodsDiary By FoodsDiary

Ingredients to make homemade Hawthorn Liqueur:

  • 300 grams of ripe hawthorns
  • 1 liter of brandy, cognac or gin
  • 2 sprigs of lemon balm
  • 250 grams of sugar

How to make homemade Hawthorn Liqueur:

  1. Put the hawthorns, clean and dry, together with the brandy and lemon balm in a porcelain or enamel saucepan. The container is left in a place, protected and at a constant temperature, for 8 days.
  2. After this time, the content is filtered through a linen cloth. To squeeze out the liquid as much as possible, the cloth must be wrung out well. Add the sugar to the juice obtained, stirring until completely dissolved. Then it is left to rest and, very carefully so that it does not become cloudy with the dregs, it is transferred to a bottle, leaving the liquor ready for use.
