Ingredients to make Coquito nougat:
- 2 cans of evaporated milk
- 2 cans of condensed milk
- 2 cans of coconut cream
- 1 package of nougat
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 3 anise stars
- 10 cloves
- 2 teaspoons of Vanilla
- 1 liter of white rum
How to make Coquito nougat:
- As in the preparation of the traditional Puerto Rican coquito, to make this Christmas recipe all you have to do is combine all the ingredients, but to give it a more intense flavor we suggest you first flavor the coconut cream.
- Then, heat the coconut cream with the cinnamon, anise and cloves in a pot. When she starts to boil she turns off the heat and passes through a strainer. Reserve until cool to room temperature.
- Meanwhile, crush the nougat until it becomes a powder, if you want you can reserve a piece for decorating the glasses when serving the coquito.
- You can use any type of nougat, although we recommend you try the classic almond nougat.
- Next, mix all the milks with a hand mixer, or in the blender. Also add the crushed nougat and vanilla.
- Now to finish our cocktail for Christmas, place the previous preparation in a jar and mix with the rum little by little, use a stirrer or a ladle to do so. Refrigerate in the fridge until serving time.
- Enjoy the very cold nougat coquito and toast to a Merry Christmas! Remember that you can always prepare the traditional drink following the Puerto Rican coquito recipe or prepare a similar version, but from another country, with the Venezuelan cream punch recipe.
