Ingredients to make Galician coffee liqueur:

  • 1 pound of Brandy
  • 150 grams of ground coffee
  • 500 grams of Sugar (2½ cups)
  • 1 piece of lemon peel
  • 1 piece of orange peel
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 100 milliliters of Water

How to make Galician coffee liqueur:

  1. To make this incredible coffee liqueur you will need a glass container with a capacity of about 2-3 liters that can be covered. When you have it, add the brandy there.
  2. Besides, make a syrup by heating the water with the sugar for a few minutes. When it starts to boil, turn off and let cool, then pour the syrup into the same container with the brandy.
  3. Also add the fruit peels and cinnamon to the container with the liquor. This will make the coffee liqueur have a particular aroma, if you don’t like citrus you can skip this step.
  4. Add all the ground coffee and cover the container, preferably airtight. Let rest for at least 10 days, stirring daily. If you prefer you can also use decaffeinated coffee.
  5. After this time, strain the coffee liqueur at least twice. You can use a very fine mesh strainer or a cloth strainer.
  6. Store in a cool place and pack the Galician coffee liqueur in a bottle. It is recommended to wait at least a year between its preparation and its consumption, but that is already to taste.
